Edgar

I'm not particularly fond of Edgar.

Here he is, mid-attack.

He really likes it here though.
I think it's a combination of the availability of fresh water (Kavya's dripping sink) and comfy places to lay. Normally he chills on the couch. But yesterday he snuck right on back to my room and snuggled up on my bed. Although I was annoyed, I also had to admit that he's absolutely adorable.

So sweet.

Zucchini Fries

Katy wanted to make me dinner. Obviously I'm not going to turn down food, and we decided to make zucchini fries and pasta. Both were freakin amazing.

I helped with the zucchini fries - they went surprising well. First, find a recipe. Here's ours. But it's not like we really followed it anyways.

Then, prepare your ingredients.

Zucchinis, no surprise

Eggs, I think, and bread crumbs and seasoning.

You roll your little zucchini strips around in the stuff and put them on a (lightly greased) pan.

Stick 'em in the oven and bake for a while. DELICIOUS. Check it out:

I ate them with ketchup, but that's mostly cause I believe that everything is better with ketchup.

But that's not all! She made me pasta too. So good.

Mmmm, thanks Katy.

Kavya even got back in time to enjoy!

Yeast? It's good for you, apparently.

Cats

We're a little bit obsessed with cats around here. By that, I mean that Katy is obsessed and we tolerate the nonsense because it's cute. :)

The above poster is on the back of our door. It's pretty cute, also the kittens are super friendly and polite. This poster, on the other hand, is less cute:

Dare I say terrifying?

This little one is Shadow, and yes, that is a Chicago quote - I suppose it's good that he's a cultured cat, right? Oh wait, this is the quote?

(At 3m50s)

P.S. The cat is right beside the knife drawer . . . .

Lost Kitten

This was on our door yesterday:

Isn't it the saddest thing ever?

Now it's on our refrigerator - for reference, I suppose, if we should ever find a little lost kitten. I think it's just cause Katy couldn't bear to throw it away. But it goes well with the rest of our decor:

Mustache postcard from Tim, halfway around the world

Brilliant illustrations by the talented Andrew (P.S. It's Tori Amos)

Thoughtful Passover card, found in the couch

And, of course, primary colored, plastic letters, of which we have approximately seven vowels and one-hundred and fifty three (okay, really like thirty) consonants. Can I get an A, anyone?

Hair cuts

I gave Katy a haircut. We're still friends. I consider the entire experience a complete success.

We were just starting out cutting bangs - hers had gotten long and kind of flippy.

Doesn't she have lovely hair?

But she decided she wanted a significant change.
I've cut hair before, but it's generally been more of a "trim" and less of a "cut." And I've had a million haircuts in my time (must've learned something), and really, how hard can it be?

I was very considerate and actually tried to convince her not to do it, honest, but she insisted. So now, she's slightly shorter-haired Katy.

I think it turned out really well, and I think she likes it too.

Carcassonne

Katy got a camera for her birthday. Which is actually in October, but she didn't originally get the one she wanted.

Coincidentally, it's the same one I'm asking for for my birthday: a Canon Rebel T3. SO EXCITED! It's wonderful.

Perfectly able to capture the darkness of Darth Voldenault.

Edgar came and visited us.
(Edgar is the upstairs neighbor's cat)

He and Katy are in a relationship. It's abusive.

Fascinatingly enough, it's Edgar who's the abusive one . . .

Then we played Carcassonne. Never played? You're missing out. My wonderful Grama gave me the Big Box set for Christmas, so I have FIVE expansion packs.

The Princess and the Dragon expansion pack is the meanest one ever.

Are we dorks? Yes.

But it's awesome.
